Roy De Forest

Roy De Forest (1930–2007) was an American painter, sculptor and teacher associated with the Funk and Bay Area Figurative movements. Known for his whimsical, colorful landscapes populated with fantastical animals and playful imagery, most commonly dogs. De Forest combined humor, narrative, and intricate detail in his work. His art celebrates imagination and joy. He has been widely exhibited in public collections including: San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles among others.
