Luis Cruz Azaceta
Luis Cruz Azaceta (born 1942) is a Cuban-born American artist whose powerful paintings and drawings confront themes of exile, violence, politics, and the immigrant experience. After fleeing Cuba for the United States in 1960, he developed a raw, expressionistic style marked by distorted figures, intense color, and emotional urgency. Based in New York for many years, Azaceta is widely recognized for work that reflects personal trauma and social upheaval, bridging contemporary art with the spirit of outsider expression.
