Gladys Nilsson (born 1940) is an American artist known for her playful, finely detailed drawings and paintings filled with imaginative figures, animals, and surreal narratives. A founding member of the Chicago Imagists, she blends humor, fantasy, and sharp observation of human behavior in a style that feels both childlike and technically precise. Her work has been widely exhibited since the 1960s and is held in major museum collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Modern Art.
